2001 Chevy Metro Diagnostic Trouble Code 0705

The Geo Metro is a compact car, manufactured by Chevrolet. Its diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 0705 can be identified by placing a fuse in the fuse box diagnostic terminal, located under the left-hand side of the instrument panel, and turning on the ignition.

Significance

    Chevy Metro diagnostic trouble code 0705 represents a transmission range sensor circuit malfunction.

Check Engine Light

    When the ignition is turned on, the check engine light will turn off if the code 0705 either does not exist or if it has been cleared. If the light stays lit, the code represents a problem. Data concerning the code is stored in the electronic control module (ECM).

Clearing the Code

    Clear or erase the code 0705 in a Geo Metro by disconnecting the negative battery cable and isolating the battery ground cable for 60 seconds.

Air conditioning was one of the great inventions of the 20th century that most of us take for granted. For granted, that is, until we encounter a hot summer day without electricity or with a malfunctioning vehicle AC system. The Mercedes Benz 2003 E320 air conditioning system, like all vehicle air conditioning systems, has three main components---a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator. Its a quick task to locate the condenser.

Instructions

    1

    Locate the hood release under the dash close to the drivers side door. It is a small level that in located above the emergency brake pedal and below the emergency brake release lever. You may have to feel under the dash for the hood release lever.

    Pull the hood release lever towards you. You will hear a noise and observe the hood rise slightly when the hood unlocks.

    Proceed to the front of the vehicle and lift the hood slightly. A grey or black tab will protrude out through the grill. Pull on the tab and open the hood by lifting it.

    Look down to area at the front of the vehicle behind the location of the grill prior to opening the hood. You are now looking at the radiator and the condenser. The condenser is in front of the radiator.

Does the 2001 Kia Optima Have a Transmission Filter

Proving yet again that the only bad question is the one not asked, heres one with a few different answers. They all involve a "yes," but with a few provisos -- primarily in terms of filter location. The Optimas automatic transmission underwent a few changes in the middle of the 2001 model year that determine where youll find the filter and how youll go about changing it.

Filter Locations

    According to Kia technical service bulletin TT651003-005 -- published in the wildly popular Kia Technician Times, Volume 6, Issue 5, 2003 -- the company switched from external to internal transmissions in the middle of the 2001 model year. This goes for both 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 2.5-liter V-6 engines. Check the VIN number and the exact production date of your Optima; cars produced from October 1st, 2000 to December 31st, 2001 used transmissions with an external filter, while later models used an internal one.

A Cause for Change

    External filters are a nice touch when it comes to maintenance, but theyre uncommon for one primary reason. If youve ever been under your car, youll notice that Kia left just about enough room for a snake to slither through. While this wasnt anything that Kias engineers couldnt deal with, this particular transmission also saw use in the same-year Sonata, Santa Fe and Trajet; and, Kia being Kia, also likely had designs on selling the design after its production cycle to another manufacturer. So, out went the external filter, and in comes the internal one.

Replacing the External Filter

    The external filter is great from a maintenance point of view. It screws onto the the transmission case just above the transmission fluid oil pan and should be clearly visible from the bottom of the car. You should be able to get to it from the top after removing the air cleaner assembly. After removing the old filter with a filter wrench, clean the mating surface and the surrounding area, lubricate the O-ring on the filter and tighten it to 8 or 9 foot-pounds.

Replacing the Internal Filter

    Internal filter transmissions are more compact by nature, but changing the filter is a comparative pain. But little more so than any other car. Slide under the car and remove the 10 millimeter transmission pan bolts, starting at one side and working toward the other. Be prepared for transmission fluid to cascade out of the top of the pan. Scrape any gasket material off of the transmission and oil pan. Youll find the filter secured to the bottom of the transmission, inside the pan, by three bolts. Remove them, replace the filter, and reinstall the pan. Tighten all of the bolts to about 10 foot-pounds and ill the transmission with 3.5 quarts of SP3 transmission fluid.

How to Change Fuses on a 2001 Malibu

Your 2001 Chevrolet Malibu contains three fuse boxes that, like the fuses in your home, protect your cars wiring system. If an electrical device in your car, such as the radio or the interior lights, has a problem and draws too much power, the fuse controlling it will blow, stopping electricity from flowing and protecting the wiring inside your car. If that happens, you will need to replace the blown fuse to restore power to the device.

    Turn off your cars engine.

    Use your owners manual to identify where the affected fuse is. Open the fuse panel by grasping the handle and pulling out.

    Identify the blown fuse. To remove a fuse, grasp it between your fingers and give it a firm pull. If you need to remove a fuse from the engine compartment, there is a special tool in that fuse box. The element of the damaged fuse will look burned or separated.

    Replace the damaged fuse with a new one.

    Replace the door of the fuse compartment. Do this by inserting the doors hooks into the slots and then pushing the rest of the door into place.

How to Change the Bulb in a Taillight on a 2001 Buick LeSabre

The Buick LeSabre originated in 1951, but was not placed into production until the 1959 model year. The 2001 Buick LeSabre was available in a base model, and an upgraded Limited model. The 2001 LeSabre was equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 engine, capable of producing up to 205-horsepower and 230-foot-pounds of torque. The taillight bulbs in the rear of the LeSabre are enclosed within the taillight housing, which is fastened through the inside of the trunk.

Instructions

    Open the trunk of the LeSabre.

    Remove the three plastic winged nuts from one side of the trunk, on the rear side of the taillight bulb assembly you are working on. You can use a pair of pliers to remove the winged nuts, if they are too tight to be removed by hand. Be careful not to snap the tabs off of the wing nuts with too much pressure. Peel the trunk liner off of the taillight studs and away from the taillight.

    Pull the taillight assembly away from the rear of the LeSabre, and rest the assembly on the rear bumper. Remove the taillight from the housing by turning it counterclockwise in relation to its position on the car.

    Pull the old taillight bulb out of the socket by hand. Insert a new taillight bulb using a paper towel or napkin around your hand. Do not touch the taillight bulb with your fingers directly.

    Reinstall the taillight bulb back into the assembly, and turn it clockwise to lock it in position. Install the taillight assembly back into the rear of the car.

    6

    Push the trunk lining back onto the rear of the trunk, allowing the taillight assembly studs to go through the allotted holes. Install the plastic wing nuts onto the studs and tighten them by hand. No torque is needed to tighten the wing nuts.

    7

    Follow Steps 2 through 6 to change the taillight bulb on the opposite side of the bulb you just replaced.

How Do I Remove a Blower Resistor in a 2001 Pontiac Aztek

The blower resistor on most cars and trucks controls the speed of the blower motor by changing the voltage that reaches the motor when the speed switch is moved from one setting to another. On the Pontiac Aztek, the resistor is part of a controller mounted on the front of the blower motor housing under the passengers side dash. If the motor runs on high but not on any other speed, theres a good chance that the resistor is no longer functioning and needs to be replaced.

Instructions

    1

    Locate the blower motor under the passengers side of the dash. Find the blower controller to the left of the motor and disconnect the wiring harness connection on the controller from the connector on the wiring harness.

    Depress the locking tab as you separate the two halves of the connection. Lay the connector from the wiring harness aside where it will not get damaged.

    3

    Locate the two retaining bolts on the bottom edge of the controller and remove them with a socket and ratchet. Pull the controller off the housing and remove it from under the dash.

An illuminated traction control light in a 2001 Jaguar 4.0 is an indication that the ABS computer detects a problem with the traction control or anti-lock braking system. This could represent a current problem or a previous problem that has yet to be cleared from the ABS computers memory. An illuminated traction control light will remain on until the ABS computers memory is cleared and reset. In order to clear the computers memory and turn off the traction control light, a connection must be established between the ABS computer and an automotive scan tool. Once a connection is established, the memory can be cleared and the light will turn off automatically.

Instructions

    Rotate the ignition switch to the OFF position in order to turn off the engine.

    2

    Locate the Jaguars diagnostic communications interface port, or DCIP. The DCIP is mounted just out of side, underneath the dashboard, below the steering wheel. The port has 16 connection pins and is the male end that connects to the female end of the scan tool.

    3

    Connect the female end of the scan tool to the male DCIP and turn the ignition switch to the ON position, then power on the scan tool.

    4

    Enter the make, model and year of your vehicle when prompted by the scan tool. Search the menus using the navigation keys on the scan tool and enter the ABS computer menu. Choose the option to read the trouble codes from the ABS computers memory. Write down the trouble codes that display on the screen. These alphanumeric codes have a very high diagnostic value and can explain why the code was triggered, should the light re-illuminate once the codes are cleared.

    Choose the option to clear the codes from the computers memory. Once the memory is clear, the scan tool will indicate this on the main screen. Disconnect the tool and start the Jaguars engine. Confirm that the traction control light is now off.

How to Remove the Oil Filter in a 2001 Dakota

Introduced in 1987, the 2001 Dodge Dakota came equipped with a 2.5-liter, in-line, four-cylinder engine or a 3.9-liter V-6 engine, as factory standard engines. A 4.7-liter V-8 and 5.9-liter V-8 were optional equipment for the 2001 Dakota. Access the oil filter on the Dakota from beneath the truck. Remove and replace the oil filter during oil changes as oil filters can fail if left on a vehicle for too long. Change the oil and oil filter in the 2001 Dakota every three months or 3,000 miles.

Instructions

    Park the Dakota, and let the engine cool for no less than 20 minutes. Raise the front of the Dakota by driving it onto vehicle ramps. Raise the front of the Dakota with a 1-ton jack if the ramps are not available. Place jack stands beneath the front lower subframe, just inside the bottom of either wheel well. Lower the jack to rest the Dakota onto the jack stands. Do not attempt this project with the vehicle resting on a jack.

    Lie beneath the front bumper of the Dakota, and slide your body into position to access the oil filter. Set a drain pan beneath the location of the oil filter, with the filter aligned as close to the center of the pan as possible.

    3

    Install an oil filter claw onto the end of the 6-inch extension. Push the claw up and onto the oil filter, twisting the claw clockwise slightly to expand the claw around your filter. Snap the ratchet onto the other end of your extension, once you have the claw set on the filter. Turn the entire assembly counterclockwise, until the oil filter loosens. Remove the ratchet and claw from the filter, and remove the filter by hand the rest of the way. Ensure that your face and body are clear of the oil pan, to avoid draining oil.

    Set the old oil filter into the drain pan. Lubricate the O-ring gasket on the new oil filter, by dipping your finger into a fresh quart of oil, then rubbing oil onto the new gasket. This helps the initial seal of the new gasket, and eliminates the chances of the gasket drying out prior to your next oil change.

    Visually inspect the oil filter mounting area, to ensure the old filter gasket is not stuck to the engine. Hold the new oil against the protruding threaded rod on the engines mounting surface. Spin the oil filter on by hand, ensuring proper threading of the new filter. Tighten the oil filter by hand only, applying as much force as possible. Do not use tools to tighten any oil filter, as you may damage the gasket with too much torque pressure, or damage the oil filter itself. The maximum torque specification for the filter is 25 foot-pounds.

    Step to the drivers side of the Dakota, and start the engine of the truck. If you only removed and replaced the oil filter, then you only will have lost 1/2-quart of oil at most. Look beneath the truck while it is still elevated, to ensure that the new oil filter is not leaking. If you hear a hissing or dripping noise from the truck, shut the truck off immediately, and recheck your oil filter for leaks. Shut the truck off after 30 seconds if you do not see any leaks.

    Remove the drain pan from beneath the truck. Drive the truck off the vehicle ramps. Raise the truck off the jack stands with a jack, if you used them instead. Remove the jack stands and lower the truck to the ground.

The Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size sedan that Hyundai has manufactured since 1985. All engines for the 2001 Hyundai Sonata have multi-port fuel injection, which requires a fuel pump to deliver fuel at high pressure. The fuel pump in this vehicle is located within the field type. The replacement of the fuel pump in a 2001 Hyundai Sonata therefore requires you to first remove the fuel tank in order to gain access to the fuel pump.

Instructions

    Remove the seat cushion from the rear seat, and open the access panel. Disconnect the electrical connector for the fuel pump module.

    2

    Start the engine, and allow it to run until it stalls. Turn the ignition off and remove the cable to the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench. This will prevent the possibility of starting the car accidentally while youre working on it.

    3

    Place a hose into the filler tube of the fuel tank. Siphon as much gas as possible into a gasoline container.

    Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel tank, and detach the electrical connector for the fuel level center. Support the fuel tank with jack stands, and loosen the bolts for the fuel tank straps. Lower the fuel tank from the vehicle.

    5

    Remove the mounting bolts for the fuel pump module, and disconnect the fuel pump module from the fuel tank. Connect the new fuel pump module to the fuel tank and tighten the mounting bolts to between 12 and 24 inch-pounds with a torque wrench. Complete the installation by performing Step 4 in reverse. Fill the fuel tank and check for fuel leaks.

You can purchase a replacement relay from an auto parts store and replace it at home. Keeping your turn signals and hazard lights functioning properly provides safety on the road.

Instructions

    Position the Cherokees steering wheel in the highest position possible to make it easier to access the dashboard panels.

    Remove the three screws securing the lower dashboard panel below the steering wheel with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the trim panel off the dashboard.

    Grasp the turn signal relay, and pull straight back to disconnect it. The turn signal relay is mounted just above the fuse box on the drivers side, and the relay is stamped with either "50732" or "TBB89" for easy identification.

    Push the replacement relay into the mounting area until it is secure. Replace the lower dashboard panel. Insert the three screws back into the dashboard panel, and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.

    5

    Return the steering wheel to your preferred position. Test the turn signal relay for proper function.

How to Replace an Alternator in a 2001 Chevy Truck

Replacing the alternator in your Chevy truck may become necessary if the original quits or starts to show signs or failure. If you are not sure that the alternator is failing, removing it from the truck will allow you to bench-test the unit and determine without question if that is where your issue lies. If the alternator is faulty, replace it with a new or remanufactured unit, available from any auto-parts store or through the Chevy dealers parts department.

Instructions

    Remove the retaining bolt from the negative battery cable end with a wrench, then remove the cable from the negative battery terminal. Isolate the cable from the battery by setting it off to the side where it cannot fall back against the battery.

    Place a socket and breaker bar on the axis bolt in the center of the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise and then slide the belt off the alternator pulley.

    3

    Locate the electrical connections on the rear of the alternator. Remove the nut from the "B" terminal with a wrench, then slide the battery cable off the terminal. Disconnect the plug in the connector from the body of the alternator by pressing the locking tab, then pulling the connector out of the alternator body.

    Locate the two mounting bolts at the bottom of the alternator. Remove both bolts using a socket and ratchet, then lift the alternator off the bracket. Position a new alternator onto the mounting bracket, install the two mounting bolts and torque them to 37 foot-pounds with a torque wrench.

    Install the electrical connections on the rear of the alternator. Plug the push-in connection to the socket on the alternator body and install the battery cable onto the "B" terminal. Torque the nut to 13 foot-pounds with a torque wrench.

    6

    Slide the serpentine belt onto the alternator pulley, then rotate the tensioner clockwise with a socket and breaker bar, tightening the belt. Install the negative battery cable onto the negative battery terminal. Install the retaining bolt on the terminal and tighten it with a wrench.

2001 Chevy Malibu Wheel Alignment Specs

The 2001 Chevrolet Malibu was a four-door sedan with a maximum horsepower of 170 hp at 5200 rpm. The car takes P215/60R15 tires. You should rotate your tires to prevent uneven wear. This helps you get more mileage out of the tires. After rotating or changing tires, you should align your vehicle for better steering and handling.

Camber Angles

    The camber angles in both the front and rear should ideally be -0.2. However, they can be aligned anywhere between -0.5 degrees and 0.5 degrees.

Caster Angle

    The caster angle on the 2001 Malibu can be from 3.1 to 5.1 degrees. The optimal alignment is at 4.1 degrees.

Toe-In Alignment

    The toe-in angle should be in the -0.15 to 0.35 degree range. Ideally, it should be at 0.1 degrees. In the rear, the toe-in angle should be between -0.26 and 0.14 degrees. The optimal toe-out angle is 0.06 degrees.

Ride Height

    After aligning the tires, check the ride height of the 2001 Malibu. Ride height is also known as ground clearance. The distance between the center of the front axle to the ground should be 32.2 inches. The bottom of the rocker panel should be 9.33 inches off the ground. The distance between the bottom of the ball joint and the bottom of the frame rail should be zero inches. The center of the rear axle should be 25 inches from the ground.

How to Replace the Spark Plugs in a 2001 Toyota Tacoma

The spark plugs on the 2001 Toyota Tacoma motor are designed to supply the spark needed to the combustion chamber during the combustion process. The spark ignites the gas fumes and causes the combustion which in return causes the piston to move up and down. When the engine is running, the coil sends the electrical current to the spark plugs that causes the plugs to spark. Over time the spark plus will begin to corrode around the spark base causing the plugs to misfire. Once this happens, change the spark plugs out immediately for maximum engine performance.

Instructions

    1

    Open the hood and locate the row of spark plugs on the driver side and passenger side of the engine. The 2001 Toyota Tacoma comes with basic spark plug wires on the driver side of the engine and ignition coil plugs on the passenger side of the engine. Start replacing the spark plugs on the driver side of the engine.

    Pull the first spark plug wire off of the driver side spark plug closest to the front of the vehicle. Insert the deep-well socket and the six-inch extension onto the spark plug. Lock the ratchet onto the extension and turn the ratchet counter clockwise to loosen the spark plug. Remove the ratchet and finish unscrewing the plug with your fingers. Pull the spark plug out of the hole and discard it.

    Screw the new spark plug into the hole with your hand until it stops turning. Continue to tighten the spark plug another half-turn with the ratchet, extension and socket to properly tighten the plug. Push the spark plug wire over the new spark plug until it locks on to the end of the plug. Move to the other driver side spark plugs and repeat the same process for replacing the plugs one plug at a time.

    Move to the passenger side of the engine and unscrew the top of the ignition coil wire from the first spark plug closest to the front of the vehicle with your hand. Pull the wire off of the spark plug and insert the spark plug socket, extension and ratchet onto the plug. Turn the ratchet counter clockwise to loosen the plug. Remove the ratchet from the plug and finish unscrewing the plug with your hand. Pull the plug out of the hole and discard it.

    Screw the new spark plug into the hole until it stops turning. Finish tightening the plug by turning the plug another half-turn with the ratchet, extension and socket. Push the ignition coil wire back onto the top of the spark plug wire and screw the top of the coil wire onto the spark plug clockwise until the end of the coil wire is tightened to the top of the spark plug. Move to the other passenger side spark plugs and repeat the same process for replacing the spark plugs one plug at a time.

    6

    Inspect all of the plugs and plug wires to ensure that all of the plug wires are securely attached to each spark plug. Crank the vehicle for about thirty seconds to test the operation of the new spark plugs. The engine should be running smoothly with the new spark plugs in place.

How to Install an Oxygen Sensor on a 2001 Galant

If the Check Engine light has come on in your 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, the oxygen sensor may be to blame. An oxygen sensor regulates the air-to-fuel mixture based on how much oxygen the sensor detects in the exhaust. If a sensor fails, your fuel consumption may increase noticeably, and youll want to replace it immediately. You can replace it yourself. The oxygen sensor is located on the exhaust manifold, accessed from beneath the truck. Buy a new sensor from an auto parts store.

Instructions

    1

    Raise the front of your 2001 Galant with a jack and support it on a set of jack stands. Remove the jack once the car is secure on the jack stands.

    Be sure the engine is cool. Slide under the Galant. Disconnect the electrical connection from the oxygen sensor. The sensor protrudes from the exhaust manifold with the wiring harness connected to the top of the sensor. Press the retaining clip in while pulling the connector free.

    3

    Remove the oxygen sensor from the manifold using an oxygen sensor socket and a ratchet. Discard the old sensor.

    4

    Insert the new oxygen sensor and thread it by hand until tight. Torque the sensor to 30 pound-feet with your torque wrench. Press the electrical connection into place until it clicks.

    5

    Raise the car slightly with the jack and remove the jack stands. Lower the car to the ground and remove the jack.

The Sebring was first introduced to the North American market in 1995. It is a middle-size car manufactured by Chrysler. The 2001 model could be purchased as a coupe or a sedan. It was packed with a lot of features, including an ABS braking system, airbags and CD player. Like any car, the Sebring should be inspected and serviced periodically. If the head gasket in your 01 Sebring needs replacing, you can do the job if you have mechanical experience, the right tools, and access to a hoist.

Instructions

Removal Procedure

    1

    Disconnect the negative cable of your Sebrings battery. Remove the nut from the negative post with a box-end wrench. Lift the cable from your battery, move it outside of the battery box, and close the lid of the battery box.

    Drain the antifreeze from the cooling system. Remove the throttle body air inlet hose and the air cleaner housing assembly. Take out the intake manifold. Disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat housing. Pull out the heater tube support bracket from the cylinder head.

    Unplug the camshaft position sensor (CPS) electrical connector, then unplug the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.

    Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Remove the accessory drive belts. Unscrew the crankshaft damper. Remove the upper and lower timing belt covers. Take off the timing belt. Remove the camshaft sprockets. Remove the timing belt idler pulley and the rear timing belt cover.

    Lift the cylinder head cover. Take out the camshafts and rocker arms. Remove the cylinder head bolts using the torque wrench, then remove the cylinder head from the engine block.

    Inspect and clean the cylinder head. The cylinder head must be flat within 0.004 inches. The cylinder head bolts should also be examined before reuse. If the threads are necked down, the bolts must be replaced. To ensure that the engine gasket is properly sealing, proper surface preparation must be performed, especially with aluminum engine components and multi-layer steel cylinder head gaskets.

Installation Procedure

    Lay the cylinder head gasket on the block. Before installing the bolts, the threads should be coated with engine oil.

    Install the cylinder head on the block. Tighten the cylinder head bolts using the 4-step torque turn method. In the first step, tighten all the bolts to 25 foot-pounds. In the second step, tighten all the bolts to 50 foot-pounds. In the third, tighten the cylinder head bolts again to 50 foot-pounds. In the final step, make an additional one-quarter of the turn with the torque wrench.

    Install the rocker arms and camshafts. Replace the cylinder head cover. Install the rear timing belt cover and timing belt idler pulley. Install the camshaft sprockets. Install the timing belt.

    Replace the upper and the lower timing belt covers. Install the crankshaft damper, then install the accessory drive belts. Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Torque the fasteners to 250 inch-pounds.

    Plug in the camshaft position sensor (CMS) electrical connector. Connect the EGR valve electrical connector. Install the heater tube support bracket to the cylinder head. Connect the heater hose to the thermostat housing. Install the intake manifold. Connect the throttle body air inlet hose and air cleaner housing assembly. Fill the cooling system.

How to Replace the Fuel Pump in a 2001 Ford Windstar

The Ford Windstar is a front-wheel drive minivan that Ford produced from 1995 to 2003. It has a 6-cylinder, 3.8-liter engine that uses sequential fuel injection. This form of fuel injection requires an electrical fuel pump to provide fuel to the injectors at high pressure. The fuel pump in the 2001 Ford Windstar is located in the fuel tank, requiring you to remove the fuel tank in order to replace the fuel pump.

Instructions

    Remove the cap on the fuel tank, and connect a fuel pressure gauge to the pressure relief valve on the fuel supply manifold. Place the drain hose of the fuel pressure gauge into a container approved for gasoline. Open the fuel pressure gauge to relieve the fuel pressure, and remove the fuel pressure gauge from the pressure relief valve.

    Drain the fuel tank by siphoning as much fuel as possible into a gasoline container. Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands. Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the fuel tank. Support the fuel tank with jack stands and remove the bolts for the fuel tank retaining straps with a socket wrench. Disconnect the bolts for the fuel tank, and lower the fuel tank from the vehicle.

    Clean the fuel tank around the fuel pump module with a shop rag to prevent dirt from entering the fuel tank. Turn the locking ring for the fuel pump module counterclockwise with a locking ring removal tool. Remove the locking ring, and disconnect the fuel pump module from the fuel tank. Discard the seal gasket.

    Apply a thin layer of grease on the new seal gasket to hold it in place. Place the seal gasket into the groove of the fuel tank and install the fuel pump module into the fuel tank. Place the locking ring on the fuel pump module and turn it clockwise with the locking ring removal tool to secure the fuel pump module. Connect the fuel tank to the vehicle by reversing Step 2, and fill the fuel tank with at least 10 gallons of fuel.

    Check the fuel system for leaks and connect a pressure gauge to the throttle body valve. Turn the ignition on for three seconds, then turn the ignition off. Repeat this pattern until the pressure gauge shows at least 30 pounds per square inch of pressure. Correct any fuel leaks, and disconnect the pressure gauge. Start the engine and check again for fuel leaks.
