How to Remove a Seat Back From a Chrysler Pacifica
The Chrysler Pacifica is a mid-size car that was manufactured from 2004 to 2008. You can remove the seat back from your Chrysler Pacifica from your home garage, saving yourself time and money. You only need one tool to do the job that can be purchased at a hardware or auto parts store. It will take you about 30 minutes to complete the job. The reason most people remove the backseat is to reupholster it. Sometimes, though, the floor carpet may need to be replaced or cleaned.

Pull the front seats as far forward as possible. Open both rear doors. Pull up and forward on the rear drivers side front of the seat cushion in the backseat and remove it from the vehicle. Do the same for the other seat cushion.
2Remove the nuts from both of the mounts on the backseat using a socket wrench.
3Move the seat belt mount away from the mount on the backseat.
4Push up on the middle part of the backseat. Pull it forward to release it from the hooks. Remove the backseat from the vehicle.

How to Remove a Chrysler Town Country Taillight
Removing the taillight from your Chrysler Town and Country van will allow you to replace the assembly if damage has occurred to it or replace the bulbs if one has burned out. The plastic taillight assembly is held onto the rear of the van by several screws that can only be accessed by opening the lift gate on the rear of the van. Once the lift gate is open, the assembly can be removed with a single screwdriver and reinstalled the same way.
Instructions

Open the lift gate on the rear of your Town and Country van. Locate the two retaining screws along the inboard edge of the taillight assembly, between the housing and the lens.
2Remove the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver and set them aside. Grasp the taillight assembly with your hands and pull it straight back until you can access the bulb sockets on the rear of the assembly.
3Turn the bulb sockets counterclockwise, unlocking them from the taillight assembly. Pull them straight out of the assembly and lay them aside. The taillight is now free of the van.

Special Chrysler Tools
The Chrysler line of cars, and the company that makes them, was named for Walter Chrysler, who introduced the first Chrysler automobile in 1924. In its long history, Chrysler has produced millions of cars, trucks and vans, and several companies manufacture tools designed especially for Chrysler parts and products. The American automaker headquartered near Detroit was ranked the worlds thirteenth largest vehicle manufacturer in 2008, with a revenue of $17.7 million.
Axle Seal Installer
The Miller Special Tools Company manufactures and sells the Axle Seal Installer Chrysler Dana MLR-5041. The installer is used with the 5041 Seal Installer and 8417 Adapter. The tools are used to install the right and left inner seals into the axle tubes in Chrysler models built from 2000 through 2002. The models are built with 248FBI axles.
SPX Miller Special Tools, a 95-year manufacturer of automotive parts as of 2011, is the primary supplier of specialty tools to Chrysler LLC.
Oil Filter Wrench
Assenmacher makes an Oil Filter Wrench M0284 for use on Chryslers. The wrench is also compatible with 2007 Sprinter, Mercedes and Jeep vehicles with V6 diesel engines. The wrench is 84 mm with 14 flats, and 22 mm hexagonal end.
Assenmacher, an independent company based in Boulder, Colorado, sells specialty tool for Chrysler, as well as Toyota, and several other domestic, European and Asian manufacturers.
Ball Joint Separator
Miller Special Tools also manufactures the Ball Joint Separator 9282, item number MLR-9282, for Chrysler vehicles. The tool is used to separate the ball joint from the knuckle on the Dodge Sprinter.
Belt Tension Gauge
The Owatonna Tool Company makes the Belt Tension Gauge C-4188 for Chrysler vehicles. The gauge is used to test tension on timing and fan belts, and to accurately calibrate the belts. The gauge measures tension in units of newtons and pounds, from 30 pounds to 180 pounds (130 to 800 newtons). The company also makes the gauge for Ford, Rotunda, Hummer and General Motors. The Owatonna Tool Company, formed in 1925, is based in Owatonna, Minnesota, and is best known for its pullers and presses.
Belt Tension Socket Wrench
Kent-Moore builds a Belt Tension Socket Wrench for Chrysler vehicles. The wrench, part number 09244-28100, also works with the 1991 to 1995 Elantra, the 1991 to 1998 Sonata, the 2000 and newer XG300 and XG350, and the 2001 and newer Santa Fe. Kent-Moore is part of SPX Service Solutions, and manufactures tools for service professionals.

Stock 1976 Chrysler 360 Specs
Chryslers LA-series 360 engine, named for its displacement of 360 cubic inches, was one of Mopars mainstays in the 1970s. It was released in 1971 with a two-barrel carburetor; a four-barrel carbureted version was added in 1973. After production of Chryslers 340 ended in 1973, the 360 became the most powerful engine of the LA series. In 1976 it was offered in three forms: a two-barrel version, a four-barrel version and a four-barrel, high-performance version.
Description and Applications
The Chrysler 360 was an overhead-valve, V-8 engine with cast-iron block displacing 360 cubic inches, or 5.9 liters. It had a 4.00-inch bore and a 3.58-inch stroke. It ran on unleaded gasoline, with a minimum recommended octane rating of 87. The engine had five main bearings and featured hydraulic valve lifters. The compression ratio was 8.4 to 1.
The 360 appeared in many Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge cars in 1976 as either the base engine or an option. These models included Chryslers Cordoba and Newport, Dodges Aspen, Coronet, Charger SE, Dart and Monaco, and Plymouths Fury, Gran Fury, Valiant, Duster, Scamp and Volare.
Performance
In its basic, two-barrel carbureted form, the 360 produced 170 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 280 foot-pounds of torque at 2,400 rpm. In California, a four-barrel Carter carburetor was used in place of the standard Holley two-barrel; the result produced 175 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 270 foot-pounds of torque at 1,600 rpm. Also available was a high-performance 360 using the same four-barrel Carter carburetor, which produced 220 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 280 foot-pounds of torque at 3,200 rpm. This version, known by its sales code of "E58," was utilized primarily in high-performance Dodge Darts, Plymouth Valiants and police cars.
Other Specs
The 360, like the 340, used Chryslers "J" cylinder head, with intake valves measuring 1.88 inches in diameter. The firing order of the cylinders was 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The engine had a capacity of 16 qts. of coolant and 5 qts. of oil. The recommended spark plug gap was .035 inches. Champion N12Y plugs were standard, with RN12Y optional. RN12Ys were standard on the high-performance engine. The recommended hot idle speed was 850 rpm, 750 rpm in California with 1,700 rpm as the recommended cold idle speed. A single-snorkel air cleaner was used on the 360.

Installing a Fuel Pump on a 97 Chrysler Sebring LXi
Like the first generation of Sebring Convertibles, the 1997 Chrysler Sebring LXI has a Mitsubishi 2.5L V6 engine with fuel injection. The fuel-injection system operates under very high pressure supplied from the gas tank by the fuel pump. Replacing the fuel pump on the LXI is a different procedure than other Sebring models, but fortunately, is well within the capabilities of even a novice mechanic.

Relieve fuel tank pressure by opening the gas filler cap. Inside the car, pull upward on the rear seat cushion to disengage it from its retaining hooks and remove the cushion from the vehicle. Of the two access panels underneath the cushion, remove the one on the right.
2Disconnect the wiring harness that attaches to the fuel pump. Turn the ignition and allow the engine to run until it dies from a lack of fuel system pressure. This permits safe removal of the fuel pump. Once the fuel pressure has been released, disconnect the negative battery cable.
3Remove the hose connecting the fuel pump to the fuel rail. Remove the mounting bolts holding the fuel pump in place and lift the pump out of the fuel tank. Wrap the pump in shop towels to catch remaining gasoline and relocate the pump to a well-ventilated area.any
4Place the new fuel pump into the fuel tank by carefully aligning the pump with the slots in the tank until the pump is securely seated. Reinstall the mounting bolts (22 inch-pounds of torque) and reconnect the hose leading to the fuel rail. Reinstall the access panel and seat cushion.
5Make sure that the gas filler cap has been reinstalled and reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn the ignition to the "On" position for a few seconds to allow the fuel system to build pressure, then start the engine to confirm proper operation.

How to Replace a PCV Valve on a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country
The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve on the 2006 Chrysler Town and Country regulates the ventilation of gases within the engine. 2Pull the hose off the top of the PCV valve. Pull the valve straight out of the valve cover.
3Insert the new PCV valve straight into the valve cover. Push the rubber hose onto the top of the new PCV valve until it stops. Close the hood.

Chrysler Sebring Issues
The Chrysler Sebring, a mid-sized sports car, was introduced in 1995. Reviewers have called the Sebring convertible and sedan models stylish, but manufacturer recalls and repair bulletins over the years document problems that you should be aware of.
Engine Problems
Engine failures, often from oil sludge, have been a major problem with this vehicle. Chrysler issued fuel pump recalls for several model years, including the years 1995 to 2000, and water- and oil-pump failures have been common occurrences. Reports of cars stalling have been attributed to a faulty CAM sensor. Repair Pal lists multiple warnings about premature head-gasket failures for Sebrings built in the late 1990s.
Electrical Problems
Engine or instrument panel cluster lights have mistakenly lit up because of power train computers that need reprogramming. Safety recalls for models between 1997 and 2000 addressed exterior lighting problems. Many Sebring owners have had to replace faulty starters and sensors when the ignition failed. Malfunction switches that dont operate properly have made radios flash or shut down entirely, especially in the 2001 and 2002 model years.

How to Change the Fuel Pump on a 2003 Chrysler Minivan
The Chrysler Town & Country is a series of minivans made by Chrysler Group since 1990. The 2003 model is a member of the fourth generation, which was in production from 1991 to 1997. The most common engine in a 2003 Chrysler minivan is a 6-cylinder 3.8-liter engine that uses fuel injection to deliver fuel to the engine under high pressure. The replacement of the fuel column in this vehicle requires you to lower the fuel tank.

Disconnect the cable for the negative battery terminals with a socket wrench to ensure that you dont start the engine accidentally during the fuel pump replacement. Open the filler cap of the fuel tank to release the pressure in the fuel tank. Remove the protective cap for the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail.
2Place one end of hose no. C-4799-1 into a container approved for gasoline and wrap a shop towel around the test port. Connect the open end of the hose to the test port to relieve the pressure in the fuel system. Remove the hose from the test port and replace the cap for the test port.
3Insert one end of a hose into the fuel tank and place the other end into the gasoline container. Siphon as much fuel from the fuel tank as possible.
4Support the fuel tank with a jack and remove the bolts for the fuel tank strap with a socket wrench. Remove the fuel tank straps and fuel lines from the fuel tank. Detach the electrical connector for the fuel pump. Lower the fuel tank with the jack to gain access to the fuel pump.
5Turn the locking ring for the fuel pump module counterclockwise with a socket wrench. Remove the locking ring from the fuel pump module and disconnect the fuel pump module from the fuel tank.
6Connect the new fuel pump module to the fuel tank and place the locking ring on the fuel pump module. Tighten the locking ring to 40 ft. lbs. by turning it clock wise with a torque wrench. Connect the electrical connector for the fuel pump module and attach fuel lines for the fuel tank. Install the fuel tank and tighten the bolts for the fuel tank straps to 40 ft. lbs.
7Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

How to Replace a Chrysler Pacifica Blower Motor Resistor
Replacing the blower motor resistor pack may be necessary if the blower motor in your Pacifica is not working correctly. Most often, the blower will run on high and turn off but not function on any of the settings in between when the resistor is bad. A replacement resistor pack is available from most auto parts stores and is located on the face of the blower motor, where it meets the HVAC duct under the dash.

Open the hood of your Pacifica and locate the negative battery terminal at the battery. Loosen the pinch bolt on the cable end with a wrench then remove the cable from the terminal, isolating the cable while you work.
2Open the passengers door and locate the blower motor under the dash on the passengers side. The motor sits directly behind the glove compartment.
3Find the resistor pack on the face of the blower motor then remove the wiring harness connector by releasing the locking tab on the connector and pulling the connector straight off the resistor pack.
4Locate the two retaining bolts on the ends of the resistor pack and remove them with a socket and ratchet. Slide the resistor out of the HVAC duct then lower it from behind the dash.
5Position the new resistor pack in the HVAC duct then install the two retaining bolts and tighten them with a socket and ratchet. Do not over-tighten the bolts or you will damage the plastic housing.
6Push the wiring harness connection onto the new resistor pack, making sure it is secure. Take your time to be sure it goes on straight or the pins can bend on the resistor pack, causing it to function incorrectly.
7Move to the battery and install the negative battery cable on the negative battery terminal then tighten the pinch bolt with a wrench. Test the repair by running the blower through the speeds and verify it is working properly.

How to Replace a Head Gasket on a 2001 Chrysler Sebring
The Sebring was first introduced to the North American market in 1995. It is a middle-size car manufactured by Chrysler. The 2001 model could be purchased as a coupe or a sedan. It was packed with a lot of features, including an ABS braking system, airbags and CD player. Like any car, the Sebring should be inspected and serviced periodically. If the head gasket in your 01 Sebring needs replacing, you can do the job if you have mechanical experience, the right tools, and access to a hoist.

Removal Procedure

Disconnect the negative cable of your Sebrings battery. Remove the nut from the negative post with a box-end wrench. Lift the cable from your battery, move it outside of the battery box, and close the lid of the battery box.
2Drain the antifreeze from the cooling system. Remove the throttle body air inlet hose and the air cleaner housing assembly. Take out the intake manifold. Disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat housing. Pull out the heater tube support bracket from the cylinder head.
3Unplug the camshaft position sensor (CPS) electrical connector, then unplug the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
4Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Remove the accessory drive belts. Unscrew the crankshaft damper. Remove the upper and lower timing belt covers. Take off the timing belt. Remove the camshaft sprockets. Remove the timing belt idler pulley and the rear timing belt cover.
5Lift the cylinder head cover. Take out the camshafts and rocker arms. Remove the cylinder head bolts using the torque wrench, then remove the cylinder head from the engine block.
6Inspect and clean the cylinder head. The cylinder head must be flat within 0.004 inches. The cylinder head bolts should also be examined before reuse. If the threads are necked down, the bolts must be replaced. To ensure that the engine gasket is properly sealing, proper surface preparation must be performed, especially with aluminum engine components and multi-layer steel cylinder head gaskets.
Installation Procedure

Lay the cylinder head gasket on the block. Before installing the bolts, the threads should be coated with engine oil.
8Install the cylinder head on the block. Tighten the cylinder head bolts using the 4-step torque turn method. In the first step, tighten all the bolts to 25 foot-pounds. In the second step, tighten all the bolts to 50 foot-pounds. In the third, tighten the cylinder head bolts again to 50 foot-pounds. In the final step, make an additional one-quarter of the turn with the torque wrench.
9Install the rocker arms and camshafts. Replace the cylinder head cover. Install the rear timing belt cover and timing belt idler pulley. Install the camshaft sprockets. Install the timing belt.
10Replace the upper and the lower timing belt covers. Install the crankshaft damper, then install the accessory drive belts. Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Torque the fasteners to 250 inch-pounds.
11Plug in the camshaft position sensor (CMS) electrical connector. Connect the EGR valve electrical connector. Install the heater tube support bracket to the cylinder head. Connect the heater hose to the thermostat housing. Install the intake manifold. Connect the throttle body air inlet hose and air cleaner housing assembly. Fill the cooling system.
