Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) is a German automobile company that manufactures and markets performance and luxury vehicles. BMW automobiles feature a keyless entry system that is built into the key and allows you to unlock and lock the doors and trunk with the press of a button. At times, the unlock and lock functionality on the key will stop working. When this happens, you need to reset your BMW key.

You can reset the Lexus trouble codes at home in your garage, saving yourself time and money. If you dont have an OBD scan tool, you can reset the codes using just a wrench and about a half hour of your time. The Lexus comes standard with an On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) computer that stores the trouble codes and alerts you via warning and service lights on your instrument panel. Only reset the codes after you have had the vehicle serviced or repaired. Resetting them prematurely will only result in the service and warning lights turning themselves back on.

Park on a flat, level surface and engage the parking brake. Shut off the engine and pop up the hood.

Look for a retaining bolt on the negative battery cable clamp. Loosen this nut with a wrench and slip the clamp off the battery post. Make sure the clamp doesnt touch the positive side of the battery or any metal surface.

Wait for 30 minutes for the electricity to drain out of the computer.

Put the negative cable clamp back onto the negative battery post and tighten the bolt. Lower the hood and start the engine. Notice that all service and warning lights are off. Drive for 45 minutes or longer to allow the computer to reprogram itself.

If the power doors on your Toyota Sienna stick or stop responding, you may need to recalibrate the doors by resetting the power door system. You can reset the power door system at home to save the time spent at a dealership service center. Resetting the system will reprogram the battery and computer chip so that the doors respond to the door controls.

Press the sliding door control button on the Siennas dashboard so that the red line on the button is illuminated. Close the sliding doors.

Raise the hood of the van, and disconnect the negative ("-") battery cable with a wrench. Wait 3 to 5 minutes, then reconnect the cable.

Press the "Open" button on the remote key fob to open the sliding doors. Close the door. Wait 10 seconds, then open the door with the remote again.

Close the door, and wait 10 seconds. Open the door with the remote a third time. Once the third cycle completes, the power door battery is reset.

The On-Board Diagnostics computer (OBD) in a 2006 Chevy has a maintenance light that turns on when your vehicle is ready for an oil change. You need to change the oil and manually reset the light. All you need to reset and turn off the light is a few moments of your time and your ignition key. Dont attempt to reset the light before you change the oil, as the computer wont be able to keep track of when your next oil change is due.

Put the key in the ignition and turn it to "Run", but dont start the engine.

Push down on the accelerator three times within five seconds. Make sure you press the pedal all the way to the floor each time. Examine the instrument cluster to see if the engine oil light is flashing. Let it flash until it stops, probably in about ten seconds.

Turn off the vehicle and remove the key. Wait a minute, and then put the key back in the ignition and start the engine. Verify that the engine oil light has turned off. If it hasnt, repeat the process. You may have to press down harder and faster on the pedal.

The 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse has an On-Board Diagnostics system that monitors the vehicles emissions components and many of the vehicles mechanical aspects. When the "Service Engine" light illuminates on the instrument panel, you need to take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic for service before resetting the light. Otherwise, the computer wont be able to determine the next service date. Also, you will be erasing the trouble codes your mechanic needs to diagnose the problem.

Find the diagnostic port on the Eclipse on the underside of the dashboard, near the drivers side. Plug the OBD code scanner into the port.

Put the key in the ignition and turn the engine to the "On" position. Make sure you dont start the engine. This will power on the code scanner automatically.

Wait for the OBD code scanner to run through its test. When it displays the trouble codes, write them on a piece of paper. Take the codes to your mechanic or look them up yourself in a repair manual. Unplug the code scanner and have the vehicle serviced.

Repeat Steps 1 and 2. Wait for the trouble codes to appear. Press "Delete" or another similar button on your scanner. This will erase the codes and reset the light. Unplug the scanner from the port and turn off the vehicle.

Turn on the engine and verify that the service engine light has turned off.

2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 vehicles are equipped with a maintenance service indicator that notifies the driver when the vehicle is due for service. This indicator begins the notification process one month before the service is due in order to give the vehicle owner enough time to schedule a service appointment. The C240s on-board computer measures a number of different variables including drive time, average length of trips, engine RPM, and many other factors to determine when the vehicle is due for service. If you take your vehicle to a shop to be serviced, they will reset the indicator for you. However, if you do your own vehicle service or wish to reset the indicator for another reason, youll need to reset the indicator yourself.

Close all the doors on the vehicle, including the trunk and hood. Turn the ignition to position 1 and press the system selection button on the lower-left side of the steering wheel to cycle through the menu options until the kilometer reading and temperature values are displayed in the multifunction display.

Press and release the trip/reset button three times quickly; you should hear a chime sound and the voltage will appear in the multifunction display. Turn the ignition to position 2.

Press the scroll forward/back button on the upper-left side of the steering wheel; the service indicator should appear in the multifunction display. Press the trip/reset button one time; the oil type menu will appear in the multifunction display.

Select the oil grade for you engine by pressing the volume up/down steering wheel controls on the right side of the steering wheel. The engine oil grade for the 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 is 5W-40 or 0W-40, depending upon your temperature climate; 0W-40 is recommended in colder climates.

Press the scroll forward/back button to confirm the oil type. Confirm oil reset, press R button for 3s will appear in the multifunction display.

Press and hold the trip/reset button for three seconds; the multifunction display will show a Service confirmed message. Press the upper scroll forward/back button until the service indicator appears on the multifunction display.

Press the upper system selected button on the lower-left side of the steering wheel until the kilometer reading and temperature values show on the multifunction display. Turn the ignition key to the 0 position.

Checking the codes on your Chevy Duramax will reveal pertinent information about mechanical and electrical functions of the truck. Resetting the codes on your Duramax will take no longer than 10 minutes. The tool you need for this job is an OBD-II code reader, which can be purchased from any auto parts retailer. It is a handheld computerized device that reads and resets computer codes on your vehicle. Always complete any servicing and repairs before you attempt to reset the codes to prevent damage to your vehicle.

Plug your OBD-II code reader into the port on the bottom of the drivers side dashboard. The port and the code readers plug are both triangular shaped.

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ACC" position. This should power on the code reader. If not, turn on the code reader.

Select the "Read" command on the code reader, then select "Delete." Wait for the code reader to indicate that the command has been completed. This is usually indicated by returning to the main menu.

Remove the code reader from the port and turn the engine on. Verify that all service and warning lights have shut off.

Todays vehicles use computers to monitor the functions of the vehicle. The 2002 Tahoes computer receives and stores trouble codes that, when read, will help you pinpoint the exact malfunction. You can reset the dashboard lights on your 02 BMW 325 right from your home garage, saving yourself both money and time. There are various warning lights that can illuminate on the BWMs dashboard such as "Check Engine," "Service Engine," or "SRS" (Supplemental Restraint System for airbag malfunctions.) Find the negative battery terminal. You will see a clamp with a nut on it. Loosen the nut with an adjustable wrench and slid the clamp off of the battery terminal.

Wrap a towel around the negative battery clamp and keep it away from the battery altogether. The towel will help to protect you and the battery.

Let the vehicle sit for about 15 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset and erase all trouble codes.

Discard the towel and put the negative battery clamp back onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the nut with the wrench. Tuck the rod away and lower the hood of the car.

Put the key into the ignition and start the engine. Verify that all service and warning lights have turned off.

When voltage is interrupted to the radio in a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant, it locks up and prevents the driver from using any of the radio functions. The voltage can be interrupted for a number of reasons, such as a dead battery or disconnecting the battery to perform a repair on another component. In order to get the radio out of its locked state, youll need to enter a correct security code. If you enter an incorrect code more than three times, the radio will freeze for one hour. During this frozen state, it wont accept any additional attempts at inputting a code.

Many accidents are caused by tire failure, and many tires that fail do so because of low air pressure. Drive the car at freeway speeds for 50 miles. Many vehicles can be reset just by driving the car. If this does not work, move on to the next steps.

Take out your TPMS scanner. Most of the scanners work in the same fashion. Become familiar with how your TPMS scanner works. Notice that the scanner has a menu button and a selector to select your model car. Select your car and follow the prompts on the screen to reset the TPMS units.

Reset the tires on the car one by one. This will require you to walk around the car to each tire and push the reset button.

As a theft deterrent, Volvo includes in its radios a mechanism that disables the radio when it is tampered with or loses power. When this occurs, the radio will display "code" until the deterrent is overridden. While useful as an anti-theft measure, it can be an irritation to rightful Volvo owners who do not know the four-digit unlock code that is unique to their vehicle. Volvo includes two radio identification cards with the owners manual. If these are misplaced or unavailable, Volvo dealerships should have access to a database of unlock codes.

You or your mechanic can use an OBD diagnostic scan tool to retrieve the computers trouble codes so that the problem can be diagnosed accurately. Open your B2200s hood and look for the battery. Attached to it are two cables; one is the negative cable. On the end of the cable attached to the battery is a clamp with a nut on it. The airbag light, or SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) light, will illuminate on the instrument cluster of your 1997 Jeep Wrangler when there is a malfunction in the airbag system. Put the key in the ignition and turn it on to the "II" position, which is right before the engine starts. Wait for the light that is flashing on the OBD scan tool to turn off. Look on the dashboard above the steering column to see that the check engine light has turned off as well.
