Some 1992 Toyota Celica models are equipped with a theft deterrent radio. This radio locks the control panel whenever battery power is lost due to a repair or low charge. When the radio is locked, it will not operate until the proper security code is entered. The security code is three digits, and is listed in the back section of the owners manual, on a special radio security card. If youve lost your radio code, youll need to contact Toyota to obtain another code, or return your Celica to a Toyota service department so they can unlock your radio.

Press the 1 button while simultaneously pressing the TUNE SEEK button; --- should appear on the display. This means that the radio is ready to receive the code.

Press 1 repeatedly to cycle through the number choices until the first digit of your code appears on the radio screen.

Press 2 repeatedly to cycle through the number choices in the second number position until your number shows on the screen.

Press 3 multiple times until the third digit of your radio code appears on the screen.

Depress and hold the SCAN button until SEC shows on the radio display; once SEC shows on the screen, the radio should be unlocked.

When voltage is interrupted to the radio in a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant, it locks up and prevents the driver from using any of the radio functions. The voltage can be interrupted for a number of reasons, such as a dead battery or disconnecting the battery to perform a repair on another component. In order to get the radio out of its locked state, youll need to enter a correct security code. If you enter an incorrect code more than three times, the radio will freeze for one hour. During this frozen state, it wont accept any additional attempts at inputting a code.

Turn the ignition on and sit in the drivers seat. Press the power button on the radio.

Look down at your security code card. Use numbers 1-4 on the front of the radio faceplate to enter your security code.

Listen for a beep confirming that your code was accurately entered. If your code was not entered correctly, ERR will display on the radio screen; you will have 2 more attempts to enter the code before the radio freezes.

Test all functions on the radio to confirm that it works properly.

If a BMW radio is disabled, it is important to take the correct steps to fix it or the radio will not function properly. If a vehicle is stolen or if the battery dies and/or is replaced, the radio on the vehicle will reset and become disabled. This safety function is in place to deter potential criminals from stealing the vehicle and is meant as a safety mechanism for the owner.

Locate the vehicles personalized radio code in the cars manual. The radio code is usually located on a small white sticker on either the front or back cover of the owners manual.

Place the key into the ignition and turn the vehicle on. Turn on the power button for the radio.

Use the station preset buttons to enter the radio code into the system and press and hold the "Volume" button to complete the code. If entered correctly, the radio will become enabled and ready to use normally.

As a theft deterrent, Volvo includes in its radios a mechanism that disables the radio when it is tampered with or loses power. When this occurs, the radio will display "code" until the deterrent is overridden. While useful as an anti-theft measure, it can be an irritation to rightful Volvo owners who do not know the four-digit unlock code that is unique to their vehicle. Volvo includes two radio identification cards with the owners manual. If these are misplaced or unavailable, Volvo dealerships should have access to a database of unlock codes.

Locate your Volvos owners manual and check the inside flap for the radio unlock code and write down the four digit number.

Insert your key into the Volvos ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Turn on the radio.

Depress the necessary preset button in sequence until the numbers on the radio display match the unlock code. For the code 1425, for instance, press the 1 preset button, then the 4 button, then the 2 button and then the 5 button.

When Volkswagen designed the radio enclosure system for the 2000 Jetta, they created a unique retaining system that allowed the radio to be removed without having to dismantle the entire dashboard. This system is comprised of locking tabs on the back of the radio and two slots on the front of the radio. When special tools are inserted into each slot on the front of the radio, the locking tabs disengage, allowing the radio to move out of the dashboard.

Obtain the anti-theft lock code for the radio, before turning proceeding with the radio removal. If you cant find your lock code, youll need to contact your local Volkswagen service department and they can provide you with a code.

Turn off the ignition and take out the key. Insert each special tool into the radio opening slots and press them down at the same time until they disengage the radio retaining tabs.

Pull on the loopholes built into the special tools to remove the radio from the dashboard. Make sure to pull the radio straight out of the opening; dont twist it or tilt the tools.

Disconnect the radios electrical connectors. Remove the special tools from the radio by releasing the locking tabs on each side of the radio.

Installation

Reconnect the radios electrical connectors and set the radio into position in the radio dashboard slot.

Press the radio down into the dashboard until its fully-seated and you hear the locking tabs engage.

Power the radio on and uses the number buttons on the front of the radio to input your security code.

Press and hold the right side of the Seek button for two seconds to confirm the code.

Power on the radio and test it to make sure it works properly.
