How to Replace the Passenger Mirror in a Dodge Ram
The Dodge Ram pickup truck was introduced in 1981 and quickly became the most successful pickup truck in the Dodge lineup. Dodge manufactures the Ram on either a van platform or a truck platform. Both versions utilize the same side view mirrors, so the replacement process is the same.
Instructions
- 1
Press the left side of the passenger mirror into the mirror shell of the Dodge Ram. By pushing the left side of the mirror into the shell, the right side of the mirror is forced out of the shell. This allows you to grasp the mirror with your hand.
2Place your fingers on the backside of the Rams mirror and press your thumb against the front side of the mirror. Pull out on the mirror to separate the mounting brackets from the ball-joint located inside the mirror shell.
3Place the new mirror into the shell and press on the center of the mirror with your fist to push the mounting brackets around the ball-joint.
4Adjust your new mirror to meet your driving needs.

How Do I Replace an Outside Mirror on an Automobile
Exterior car windows are held on by a few screws. The most time-consuming part of this task is accessing these screws and the electrical connector if you are replacing a power mirror. Though the procedure for replacing exterior mirrors is nearly identical for all vehicles, you may need different tools depending on what types of screws and panel fasteners your car has.
Instructions
Removing the Old Mirror
- 1
Remove the mirror trim panel. It is the triangle-shaped panel located on the inside of your door, directly opposite of the exterior side mirror. Youll need a special door trim removal tool to do this on some cars, but you may be able to remove some panels with just a screwdriver.
2Remove the entire door panel if necessary. Youll only have to do this for cars with power windows because youll have to disconnect the electrical connector that may be located behind the door panel. It may take some time to find all the door panel fasteners, and as with the mirror trim panel, you may need a specialized door panel removal tool. The screws may also be hidden behind small decorative panels. These usually snap right off of the panel.
3Unscrew the screws that secure the mirror from the interior side of the door. The screws are located behind the mirror trim panel you removed. There are usually three of them and they may have a Phillips, hex or Torx head.
4Disconnect the electrical connector if you are replacing a power mirror. If the connector was not accessible when you removed the mirror trim panel, follow the wiring from the mirror until you find the connector.
5Remove the mirror by pulling it away from the door.
Installing the New Mirror
- 6
Put the new mirror in place, and install the retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver, Torx driver or hex driver, depending on the screw heads.
7Reconnect the electrical connector, if necessary.
8Reinstall the door panel (if you removed it) and mirror trim panel. Push the panel into place. Some fasteners will probably snap to fasten, then install any screw fasteners you removed. Lastly, if you have removed any covers to hide screws, snap these back into place.

How to Replace the Glass Panel on the Mirror of a 1996 Suburban
If you want to replace just the glass panel in the mirror on your 1996 Suburban, youll be happy to know that you do not have to remove the large plastic housing that bolts onto the side of the Chevys door. The glass panel, which is actually made of plastic, is secured to the small motor mounted inside the plastic mirror housing. This makes replacing just the glass panel easier since no tools are required to disconnect the mirror from the motor in the housing.
Instructions
- 1
Push one side of the Suburbans glass panel mirror into the mirror housing. If youre replacing the mirror on the drivers side, push the right side of the mirror into the housing. If youre replacing the passengers side mirror on the Suburban, push the left side of the mirror into the housing.
2Grasp the side of the mirror sticking out of the housing and pull hard on it to remove it. The mirror has a long metal tab that sticks out of the back of it. This tab slides into a slot in the face of the motor located inside the mirror. As you pull on the mirror, the metal tab will slide out of the slot on the motor.
3Place the metal tab of the new glass panel mirror into the slot on the face of the mirrors motor.
4Push on the face of the mirror to push the metal tab into the slot. Once the mirror rests inside the housing, the mirror is in place.

How to Install a Mirror on a 2007 Dodge Caravan
Car mirrors can suffer a lot of damage throughout the life of an automobile. When a mirror is beyond repair, the entire mirror must be replaced. Knowing how to install a mirror on a 2007 Dodge Caravan can spare Caravan owners time and expense.
Instructions
- 1
Pry off the panel where the mirror attaches to the vehicle with a small standard screwdriver. This will expose the screws attaching the mirror to the vehicle.
2Remove the two exposed screws attaching the mirror to the vehicle with a T27 Torx driver.
3Open the door next to the mirror you are replacing. This will expose the third and final screw attaching the mirror to the vehicle.
4Unscrew the final screw with a T27 Torx driver. Some mirrors designed for a 2007 Dodge Caravan have an internal heating element with a cable attaching it to the vehicles electrical system. With this type of mirror, press the release tab on the cable connector and pull the cables apart before removing the mirror.
5Lift the mirror to be replaced away from the vehicle.
6Hold the replacement mirror in place against the vehicle so the screw holes in the mirror base and vehicle align. If the vehicles mirror has an internal heating element, first attach the replacement mirrors cable to the vehicles mirror cable before holding the replacement mirror in place.
7Screw the screws into the three holes of the mirror base with a T27 Torx driver.
8Replace the panel where the mirror attaches to the vehicle by sliding it into place and pressing firmly.

How to Replace the Passenger Side Mirror Glass on a Hyundai Sonata
The drivers side mirror glass on the Hyundai Sonata is like most other automotive side-view mirrors. It is made of plastic with a reflective mirror coating on it. The reason Hyundai makes the mirror out of plastic is to improve the impact resistance of the mirror. However, it is not impossible for the mirror to crack upon impact with a passing vehicle. If the mirror does crack, you need to replace it before your next vehicle inspection. Otherwise, you risk failing the inspection due to the cracked mirror.
Instructions
- 1
Slide the mirror to one side of the plastic housing it sits inside of. This turns the opposite side of the mirror outward so you can get your fingers behind it. If your Sonata has an electric control module or mirror adjuster, use that to adjust the mirror to one side.
2Place your fingers behind the side of the mirror sticking out of the Sonatas mirror cover and pull the plastic mirror out of the cover. The mirror attaches with small metal clips. They are not damaged during the removal process.
3Place the new mirror into the Sonatas mirror cover and press the clips into place by pushing on the center of the plastic mirror. The clips bend around the mounting post or electric control module to hold the mirror into place.
