DIY Muffler Replacement for Samurai
The Suzuki Samurai, with its 1.3-liter engine, has a muffler with an integrated front and rear exhaust pipe section. The front runs from the head pipe or exhaust manifold to the muffler body and the rear from the body to the tailpipe just above the rear axle housing. Replacing the muffler requires you to remove several bolts at the front of the system and one exhaust clamp. The job can be completed in the driveway at home in about an hour with common hand tools.
Instructions
- 1
Raise the front of your Suzuki off the ground with a jack and position a set of jack stands under the front axle housing to support the vehicle. Make sure the jack stands are on a flat, solid surface, then remove the jack from under the truck.
2Locate the flange at the front of the muffler assembly from under the truck. Remove the two mounting bolts from the flange using a wrench on one side and a socket and ratchet on the other.
3Move to the rear of the assembly and locate the connection between the tailpipe and the muffler assembly. Remove the nuts from the exhaust clamp on the pipe with a socket and ratchet. Remove the clamp from the exhaust pipe and discard it.
4Separate the muffler assembly from the tailpipe, then remove the muffler from the rubber hangers under the truck. Lower the muffler to the ground and remove it from under the truck.
5Raise a new muffler assembly into place and connect the two rubber hangers to the support pins on the muffler assembly. Raise the rear of the muffler assembly and slide the tailpipe and the rear connection of the muffler together. Install a new exhaust clamp on the connection and tighten the nuts with a socket and ratchet. Do not over-tighten the nuts or you will crush the pipe.
6Position the flange at the front of the muffler assembly against the flange on the front exhaust pipe and install the two retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts with a socket and ratchet on one side and a wrench on the other.
7Raise the front of the truck off the jack stands with a jack, remove the jack stands from under the truck, then lower it to the ground.

How to 1998 Chevy Metro Fuel Pump Replacement
Suzuki markets the Suzuki Cultus under a variety of names, including the Chevrolet Metro, Geo Metro and Suzuki Swift. The engine for the 1998 Chevy Metro is a four-cylinder 1.3-liter engine with multiport fuel injection. This type of fuel injection requires the fuel pump to deliver fuel under high pressure. The fuel pump for the 1998 Chevy Metro is in the fuel tank, so you must remove the fuel tank when you replace the fuel pump.
Instructions
- 1
Open the cap for the fuel tank, and remove the control relay in the fuse box. Start the engine, and allow it to stall. Crank the engine for a few seconds to ensure no fuel remains in the fuel system. Disconnect the cable on the negative terminal of the battery with a socket wrench to ensure you dont accidentally start the engine.
2Remove the rear seat cushion, and disconnect the electrical wiring for the fuel gauge in the bottom of the rear seat. Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter, and connect the open end of the fuel line to a hose. Siphon the fuel from the fuel tank into a gasoline container.
3Disconnect the hoses for the fuel pipes on the fuel tank. Detach the fuel filler hose and breather hose from the fuel tank. Support the fuel tank with jack stands, and disconnect the mounting bolts for the fuel tank with a socket wrench. Lower the fuel tank from the vehicle.
4Release the clamps for the fuel hoses to the fuel pump assembly. Remove the mounting screws for the fuel pump assembly with a socket wrench, and detach the electrical connector for the fuel pump. Lift the fuel pump assembly and gasket from the fuel tank.
5Install the new fuel pump by reversing steps 1 through 4. Fill the fuel tank, and turn on the ignition to pressurize the fuel system. Start the engine, and check for fuel leaks.

A timing belt that fails could lead to other serious engine failures and damage that could cost thousands of dollars to fix. Information on the replacement of a timing belt can be beneficial for automobile owners.
Identification
There are certain things that can help you to identify problems with your timing belt. Being aware of new sounds coming from your engine can be helpful. An engine that makes scraping noises is often a sign that a timing belt is worn and in need of replacement.
Replace
In order to replace a timing belt, certain parts need to be removed ahead of time, such as fan belts and timing covers. Also, some vehicles require that you replace the water pump when replacing the timing belt.
Time Frame
A timing belt is made partly of rubber and will wear out naturally over time. As a result, estimated intervals for replacement are about every 75,000 miles.

Tips on Using Glue for Headliner Replacement in a VW Jetta
Headliner, or the piece of fabric along the top of the interior of a car, can sometimes become undone, sag and come down inside the vehicle, making it distracting when driving and generally unattractive. When this happens inside a Volkswagon Jetta there are a number of different techniques you can use to replace or reattach this headliner with glue.
Metal to Fabric Glue
When reattaching a small section of headliner, make sure the glue you use works to connect metal to fabric effectively. Most heavy-duty super glues will do this effectively, but make sure you are not wasting your money on something that wont hold up over time. Spread this heavy-duty glue around the edges of the ceiling of the automobile in order to attach the cloth to the metal frame of the Volkswagon itself. Hold it in place for a minute or two to make sure it is going to stick, wiping away any extra glue that squeezes out so that it doesnt get on the interior of your car.
Spray Glue
Using spray glue is a good way to totally replace the headliner in your Volkswagon Jetta in a quick and efficient manner. Remove all of the foam and headliner material from the ceiling of the car and lay it out on a clean workspace surface. Spray the headliner with glue and wrap cloth, felt or replacement headliner over the structure which holds the headliner to the ceiling of the car. The part which attaches to the headliner material can then be reinstalled on the ceiling with the new headliner attached.
Allow Glue Ventilation
When doing any of these headliner repairs or replacements in your Volkswagon Jetta using glue, make sure there is proper ventilation within the car, by opening the sun roof or rolling the windows down. Not only will it help the glue to dry and hold the headliner in place faster, but it will also allow you to breathe easier, so youre not inhaling noxious fumes which come from most glues, especially spray glues. Wear a mask to keep from inhaling airborne toxins.

How to Measure for a Harley Clutch Cable Replacement
To properly service your Harley, you must be aware of the location of your clutch cable adjuster. The adjuster must be accessible if you are going to properly maintain your bike. Usually, the most variation in cable lengths is the distance between the adjuster and the clutch lever. It is not necessary to measure Harley-Davidson stock clutch replacement cables; the part is always simply sold as "stock" length. However, you must always measure the clutch cable when you replace your stock handlebars or install handlebar risers. It is best to install the new handlebars or risers first, then measure for your replacement cable immediately after.
Instructions
- 1
Tape one end of the piano wire to the top of your clutch lever housing. Ensure that the wire extends across the entire breadth of the housing.
2Turn the handlebars all the way to the right to ensure your clutch cable will cover your full turning radius.
3Route the piano wire down your forks. Tape the wire to your forks approximately where the clutch cable adjuster was located on your old clutch cable.
4Route the wire two inches beyond the spot where your old clutch cable entered your primary case. Mark that termination point on the wire with a third piece of tape.
5Remove the piano wire from your motorcycle. Remove the first two pieces of masking tape. Measure the distance from the end of the wire to the third piece of masking tape with a steel or cloth measuring tape.

Suzuki Esteem Alternator Replacement Help
An alternator is an auto part that gets power from a cars engine. It then makes electric energy to use in tasks such as charging the vehicles battery. Learning information on alternator replacement can be beneficial for Suzuki Esteem owners having trouble with this part.
Types
When a Suzuki alternator begins to fail, it can cause several types of problems. The headlights and the dash lights will not be as bright as normal. Also, because you may run into trouble starting your vehicle, a jump start could be required as well.
Replace
When replacing your Suzukis alternator, you can partly or fully remove the alternator belt before removing the alternator. If the belt is worn, it should be replaced right along with the alternator.
Misconceptions
Suzuki starting problems due to battery issues are often confused with alternator problems. A load test can be done on your battery to help sort things out. If the battery cant put out at least 10 volts, then your Suzukis failure to start is likely a battery problem instead of an alternator problem.
