How to Remove the Dash from a Buick Park Avenue
There is no time like the present for replacing that ugly, faded and probably cracked dashboard in your Buick Park Avenue. The good news is that doing so is a fairly easy job. In fact, the only difficulty will involve removing the parts that are designed to prevent dashboard removal. You will need only a couple of tools to complete the job, and before you know it the interior of your Buick Park Avenue will be good as new.

Remove the edges of the trim adjacent to doors and beneath the steering wheel. The trim is what keeps the dash in place and covers all of the wiring. Wedge the flat-head screwdriver under the trim that runs alongside the windshield by the doors and pop the dash loose. Remove these trim pieces and set them aside. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen any remaining mounting bolts securing the steering wheel trim.
2Loosen the trim along the edges near the doors and under the steering wheel. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry under the edges of the trim running down the side of the windshield near the doors and pop the trim loose. Slide the trim pieces out of the car and set aside. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the five to eight mounting bolts holding the steering wheel trim in place. Pull the trim down and discard it.
3Grab the temperature control knobs with a pliers and give a sharp tug. Use the pliers to pry off the radio knobs as well. If you cant pry the knobs off, turn them counterclockwise, as occasionally the knobs screw into the dash.

How to Install a Buick Park Avenue Oil Pump
The Park Avenue is a full-size sedan that was manufactured by the Buick division of General Motors from 1990 to 2005. The Park Avenue has a 6-cylinder 3.8-liter engine with sequential fuel injection. The oil pump of a late-model Buick Park Avenue is mounted to the engine under the front cover. The installation of the oil pump in this vehicle requires you to remove additional components to access the oil pump.

Place a wooden plank on a floor jack as a cushion and support the engine with the floor jack. Disconnect the cable from the batterys negative terminal with a socket wrench to prevent the engine from starting accidentally.
2Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise to remove the drive belts. Disconnect the tensioner assembly from the engine with a socket wrench. Remove the pulley and bracket for the drive belt idler.
3Remove the axis mount bracket with a socket wrench if this is necessary to access the front cover for the engine. Remove the front cover and disconnect the mounting bolts for the oil filter adapter. Disconnect the oil filter adapter assembly, including the spring and pressure regulator valve. Discard the gasket for the oil filter.
4Disconnect the mounting screws for the cover of the oil pump with a socket wrench. Remove the inner and outer gears from the oil pump housing.
5Coat the gears for the oil pump with petroleum jelly and insert them into the oil pump housing. Pack the remaining space in the housing with petroleum jelly.
6Fasten the oil pump cover and tighten its mounting screws to 97 inch-pounds with a torque wrench. Install the oil filter adapter assembly with a new gasket and tighten its mounting bolts to 11 foot-pounds. Attach the front engine cover and the tensioner assembly with a socket wrench. Connect the pulley and bracket for the drive belt idler if you removed it earlier. Attach the drive belts and the torque axis mount bracket.
7Connect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Lower the floor jack supporting the engine. Fill the engine oil to the proper level if necessary and start the engine. Check and fix any oil leaks.
