How to Pass AirCare
AirCare, Vancouvers annual emissions testing program for automobiles, aims to improve the air quality in the city and the neighboring valley. Since the program was started in 1992, pollution has decreased, even while population and vehicle traffic has increased. Preparing your car for this vehicle inspection annually can help keep you on the road while protecting the environment for your neighbors and yourself.
Instructions
- 1
Enter your vehicles model year and fuel type into the "Inspection Info" section of the AirCare website (see Resources) to determine the emission standards for your vehicle.
2Print out the results to take to your mechanic.
3Look for the "Certified Repair Centre" sign with the AirCare logo in your mechanics shop. If you are unsure of your mechanics status, just ask. While repairs do not need to be done by an AirCare-certified mechanic, youll be sure to get a passing grade or at least a "conditional pass" if the mechanic has been.
4Ask your mechanic to run the same diagnostic tests that AirCare will be using to see if you are meeting the emissions standards. If there is anything amiss, you can repair it before your official AirCare test.
5Schedule an inspection at the locations listed at the AirCare website.
6Bring your car to the inspection.
7Access the results on the AirCare website by entering the Vehicle Registration Number or the Vehicle Identification Number.
