How to Tow a 1987 Jeep CJ6
If your 1987 Jeep CJ6 wont start unexpectedly and you cant push it to a shop, you must tow it to have it fixed. You can tow the truck to any repair shop as long as you have a tow truck or a vehicle strong enough and equipped to tow a car the size of your CJ6. Since the car wont start on its own, having it pulled while in neutral is the safest way to get it out of the roadway and to a safe location for repair.
Instructions
- 1
Drive your tow vehicle to the front of the CJ6. Align the two vehicles so you can attach the tow cable to the Jeeps undercarriage.
2Pull enough cable from the back of the truck to create a short distance between the two vehicles during a tow.
3Reach underneath the Jeep with cable in hand, and create a double loop around both sides of the front axle with your towing cable. Clamp the loop shut by using the hook at the end of the cable.
4Enter the Jeep, and shift it into neutral.
5Turn on the hazard lights during the tow.
6Close the doors of the Jeep securely.
7Enter the tow truck. Drive to the repair shop where youd like to have the Jeep serviced. Take the safest route possible, and stay away from any sharp turns or sudden stops.
