How to Reduce Tire Noise on an Infiniti G37 Coupe
The Infiniti G37 was designed for a comfortable and quiet ride. Tire noise can be an issue with any car, no matter how luxurious the car is. You can figure out what is needed to reduce tire noise on your G37 with a few simple steps. You will find that reducing tire noise is really a process of elimination. Expect to spend about an hour to find what is causing the tire noise. You can work on your Infiniti right at home and come up with the proper solution.
Instructions
- 1
Find a comfortable place to work on your car and set the emergency brake.
2Place a wood or plastic block behind one of the tires you are not working on to keep the car from rolling.
3Place the stock car jack under the front jack spot on the car, under the frame or axle.
4Jack up the front tire and place a jack stand under the axle or frame of the car for added security.
5Run your hand around the tread area of the tire to feel for uneven wear. If you find uneven wear on the tire, this is probably the reason for your tire noise and you should move on to the next step. If you find that the tires are wearing evenly, then it is likely that the tread pattern on your tires is noisy. You might consider changing to a new tire.
6Move to the rear tire, feel the tread and visually inspect it. If the rear tire is smooth, then you will continue to rotate the tires so that the front tire will be on the rear and the rear tire on the front. Lower the jack in the front so that the car is supported on the jack stand. Jack up the rear tire.
7Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts on the front and rear wheels by sliding the wrench over the lug nuts and turning counterclockwise.
8Rotate the tires on that side of the car so that the front tire is on the rear and the rear tire on the front; tighten all lug nuts with the lug wrench.
9Repeat the above rotation steps for the other side of the vehicle if you find that the other front tire has uneven wear and the rear tire is smooth. It will take miles of driving for the tires with uneven wear to smooth out and not cause road noise.

1998 Ford Taurus Power Steering Noise
Most cars will eventually develop some sort of noise or fault that will require a diagnosis. The Ford Taurus may exhibit noisy steering, which may have a number of causes.
Power Steering
Your Taurus power steering pump could have become low on oil, which will cause it to make noise; check oil levels, and fill it if needed. You may also have a loose pulley, in which case you should correct and tighten it appropriately. Check the hoses for clogs, which can also cause noise; if none of the above solves the problem, your pump may be defective and need replacing.
Joints
If the steering tends to make noise only when you turn the wheels, you may notice a knocking noise, which may result from a bad universal joint. The universal joint is a sort of knuckle joint that attaches between the wheel and the axle. When the bearing has gone bad, or the rubber cover has worn out, you will hear the knocking noise when you turn the wheels to the far left or right.
Fluids
Power steering fluid plays an essential role in the smooth operation of the steering system. If the power steering fluid levels have become excessively low, top them off immediately and check them on a regular basis.
